Hi and Welcome to the July 2015 Newsletter.
Maximising your Website Return on Investment
Your website is your front line marketing tool and sometimes, unfortunately it lays dormant after it’s launch. This can happen for a couple of reasons.
This type of thinking is based on hope – the hope that just because you have a website, eager customers will be clamoring to buy your product or service. It must be remembered that…
HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY but being ready to implement good ideas based on reliable information is simply being pro-active and will begin to yield results. The reality is, your website is a living, breathing marketing tool with great potential.
In the absence of trusted guidance this can often cause site owners to withdraw and, even by association, treat the original creator of the site with skepticism.
Keeping pace with Technology
As you can probably appreciate, web technology is advancing rapidly and a large part of my time is taken up studying software and programming languages in an effort to stay ahead of the game. We as web developers need to stay on our toes, and train constantly to fend off internet dilettantes and interlopers 🙂
This is not meant as a gripe but an opportunity to assure you that with the many improvements in website technology and paradigm changes in the way we use the internet there is a great opportunity to take advantage of the benefits these changes bring.
I’d like to offer you the benefit of what I’ve learned over the last few years and help you extend the value of your marketing dollar. We all get inundated with cold call offers to re-invent our websites or supercharge our Google Search Results, but I’d like to offer you the opportunity to be better informed about the possibilities your Worpress website offers. I hope these newsletters bring some real value to your business.
This being the inaugural newsletter I’d like to briefly outline what I intend to cover:
- Tips on how to get more from your WordPress website
- Web marketing ideas
- Links to helpful articles and videos
WordPress – what is it? and why should you upgrade?
Wordpress is currently the most popular web publishing platform on the internet today. The core of WordPress is built by hundreds of community volunteers, and as the saying goes “Wordpress is both free and priceless at the same time”. There are huge benefits for the website owner.
What sort of benefits?
- You can now update your site yourself.
- Upload your own images and edit your own text.
- Write and publish your own blog.
- Reduce the cost of updating your website.
Wordpress gets you started with award winning core software and when you’re ready for more there are thousands of plugins and themes available to transform your site into almost anything you can imagine. Over 60 million people have chosen WordPress to power their websites.
As a web developer with some 10 years experience I just can’t see any argument for not taking advantage of the benefits that WordPress offers.
Web Hosting account features for clients
As a Gordon Design client your web hosting subscription provides:
- Daily site backups.
- Direct free access to the host help desk should you have any issues with your email or web connectivity.
- In addition to this, as a WordPress site owner you can rest assured that your core software and add-on software components are routinely updated for improved functionality and security.
If you’ve read this far, I thank you. This is my first newsletter and I hope I’ve stirred your curiosity for the great potential for business opportunities your website offers. I understand the parlance of web development can be intimidating, but please rest assured that I’m here to attend to any queries you have, or assistance you require relating to your website, email service, or Print Design (Brochures logo design etc.)
