Graphic Design & Print Work (Background)

From Print to Pixels

Before focusing on web design and ongoing website support, I worked across a range of print and branding projects.

This included flyers, signage, brochures, and general marketing materials for small businesses. My background includes formal training in graphic design, which continues to influence how I approach layout, typography, and structure in web projects.

While print is no longer a core service I offer, this page is intended as a tribute to those earlier days in print and the lessons they taught me.

From print to pixels

I started in print and branding, creating flyers, signage, and brochures for small businesses. My graphic design training still shapes how I approach layout and typography online. This page reflects the lessons I learned from those early projects.

Why This Still Matters

Good design isn’t about trends or opinions. It’s about clarity, structure, and how easily someone can understand what you’re offering.

That principle hasn’t changed—whether it’s a printed flyer or a website.

The main difference now is that websites need to perform across devices, screen sizes, and browsers. In the past, this wasn’t always reliable. Layouts could break, fonts wouldn’t render properly, and what looked correct on one screen often didn’t translate to another.

Those limitations made it difficult to apply consistent design standards online.

Why This Still Matters

Design is about clarity and structure, not trends.
The same rules applied to print and still apply to web.
Modern websites now face challenges across devices and browsers, which historically made consistent design difficult.

Why This Still Matters

Good design is about clarity, structure, and making your message easy to understand—not trends.
That principle applies to both print and web.
Today, websites must perform across devices and browsers, which wasn’t always possible in the past. Inconsistent layouts and font rendering made it hard to maintain design standards online.

Where Things Are Now

Modern web standards and tools have largely solved those problems.

Today, it’s possible to build websites that:

  • Maintain consistent layout and structure across devices
  • Support strong typography and visual hierarchy
  • Combine design with practical marketing functionality

This has brought web design much closer to the level of control traditionally associated with print.

Design Still Comes First

The tools have improved, but the underlying principle remains the same:

Clear, well-structured design supports better communication.

That applies just as much to a website as it does to any printed material.

Example Work

Below is a short walkthrough of two brochure projects. These examples highlight my skills in layout, typography, and structured design—foundations that remain essential in modern web design.
